That’s the headline from the Chicago Sun Times this week. “The divorced couple is embroiled in a bitter fight that will see national experts flying in to testify before a Cook County judge. Their battle reflects a national debate on circumcision — a procedure that has dropped in popularity in the United States over the last 25 years.”

Rather than spending a fortune on litigation and putting this before a surely overworked judge who could really be helping many other families, it’s a shame the parents can’t either be forced to learn some conflict resloution techniques or have the judge limit the hearing to who should have health care decisionmaking authority. No circumcision decision coming from a judge will be in the child’s best interest and making national news adds insult to injury. Poor kid.
